We don’t know when the 2020/21 football season will start but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to start getting ready. It’s important to keep your training going during lockdown. Thankfully, you can still carry out training drills at home with our great range of training equipment.
Football Training Ladders
A training ladder can help you improve in 3 key areas:
- Speed – the ability to move in one direction as quickly as possible.
- Agility – the ability to accelerate, decelerate, stabilise, and change direction.
- Quickness – the reaction time of the body to make a move.
A football training ladder is also great for strengthening your joints, ligaments and tendons. You’ll also get your heart pumping because it’s a great form of cardio. Best of all, you don’t need much space to use it.
Basics
The key to using an agility ladder is repetition. Start with the basics and get them perfected. Concentrate on getting your form right before you start worrying about getting it done quickly. Once you have it spot on, you can speed things up and ramp up the difficulty.
Form
When running ladder drills, it is important to make sure your posture is correct. Make sure that you don’t look down. This means you can maintain the correct upper-body posture. You can ensure the correct posture by following these guidelines:
- Push off the balls of your feet.
- Pump your hands from shoulder height to hips.
- Keep your elbows at 90 degrees.
- Relax your body.
- Keep your body straight.
If you want to make the most out of your training sessions, your form must be correct.
